Rick Hampton Square Dance Caller

June 6th 2006 (6/6/6-eeeeeeeekkkkkkkkk)
I have to catch up- The kid is home and ,while still flexing young adult muscles, She's here. We're glad she's goin to go to College and will assist her in the Endeavour.
Square Dance wise- Saturday (6/3) was a fun, but very small dance. It was over 90 in Orange County and they stayed home under the A/C. Oh well. Sunday it was the old joke-How Many callers does it take to install a swamp cooler on Helen's Barn-(3 Rod Shuping, Wes Clements and I carried stuff)- Speaking of Wes- His first paid gig is coming up-GOOD DEAL!!!!!
Monday was a luau and all had a Great time- Tonight I had to have Connie Whitfield step in for me-I had a "tummy trouble" day.- Anyway the sharpshooter Youth Music Project is getting close (If you want to help YOUTH SQUARE DANCING GROW-Click  and refer/sponsor a caller)- This week is slow, Then Sunnyvale on Saturday for Strawberries-(say that fast 3 times)

SHE DID IT!!!!!!- I have a High School Grad-CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! A nice pre-grad party and ceremony, Now if I don't have a heart attack tonight before she gets home.  In other news- I got a unique way of returned Records- A CD broken in Half and a propane torched 45. Seems this caller disagrees with something I said in a discussion forum- I don't know what he or she disagrees with, but I did get enough communication with them to be sure I didn't have to consider it menacing (at first I was not sure) I am sad to see Leonard Row passed away- He (with Dorothy) hired me for my first club-circa 1977-They also went on to round dance fame. GREAT people-and leaders in the activity-Truly interested in dancing more than politics. They were past everything around here.

A GREAT dance in Sunnyvale-Over 20 squares and Strawberries-YEEHAW- I really appreciate clubs such as this one who've prospered against tough odds (Dress code, S/D image etc.) A FUN nite!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The kid is back to joking with us (........We blew a tire on the way back from our first solo beach trip)- AGGHH, Oh well that is her sense of humor, (I always ask Lynn where she got it- Lynn sez Hmmmmm) Somebody tell Eric/Jet that Ding a Ling is OK to sing LOL!!!

A busy week- Visalia got a new hall, Whirlaways got cancelled by a guy who went out of his way to ask me to set him up-
I really HATE callers who do this-I told the offender so- I really hate being lied to, especially when I hear one of the lamest excuses yet- PS I guess those who want to be helped in California had better figure out that the PRO callers here-talk to each other-hence the proof that the lame excuse was crap.  Anyway a great time at Tam Twirlers on a HOT (bay area standards) day- A really nice visit with Eric and Jennifer- A side trip to a casino for Lynn and Then a LOBSTER fathers day dinner with all the Hampton gang- Monday it's Bakersfield, Tuesday it's Visalia then Off to San Antonio and a really crappy calling schedule- Oh well-The Trail in Dance and the labels new releases are the reason to go.

CYA at the Alamo-ish

Back from Texas- A fun week- Due to so many callers not showing up (poor schedules) I was able to get a FEW nice spots-I shared with the staff and voila-FineTune/GoldWing staff helped California SHINE and we're committed to make Long Beach the beginning of the turnaround in Nationals attendance. (Maybe "THEY" will program us in the first place in Charlotte /Wichita ) Thanks to my main man Wes for calling with me Monday (Left my voice at the Alamo) Thanks to Jay for covering Tuesday (I was napping)-BTW Thank GOD Jay was not terribly hurt in a motorcycle crash over the weekend- Some folks were!-Pray for all- I'm  up waiting for my kid to call to say they're at the beach-In MY TRUCK (Lynn thinks I'm somewhere between a Wimp and a Moron)- Thursday it's Frazier Park's Graduation-Off for the weekend then it's a 9 day a week July
