Rick Hampton Square Dance Caller

February 17th
Man It has been Busy- Both with life and S/D
Life is good- S/D is OK......The Monday group is doing well-a larger attendance than last year-a good class
Tuesdays are down- Good SMALL class, but I'm starting to worry.  Wednesdays are progressing well-same size as last year........................On my travel thru the snowy mountains this last weekend- It was a great dance, a great session and a truly depressing find-A Flyer with my name and picture for a dance I'm NOT calling- This club had asked about the date last year, and after "holding the date" for way longer than I normally do-I accepted another dance, and got the contract-signed and scheduled (again Last YEAR) I also notified the "coastal singles group" that I had not gotten a contract and I would not be able to do this dance (LAST YEAR-NO CONTRACT-NO PROBLEM)  We agreed on a different date and again I waited for the paperwork-NOTHING............Imagine my surprise seeing the flyer........Good Grief

A Fun Party Friday Nite 250+ "daddy's and daughters"  What a HOOT!- A delicious BBQ with family on Sat. and Today's dance went great!!  This group is slowly but steadily trending upward.   GOOD NEWS..........Jet and Sylvia are
the proud parents of Stella Elizabeth-Congratulations!! .........Not So Good News  A prayer for healing of a couple of brain tumors will be appreciated by D.A and family........Finally updating the above- The "coastal singles group" said, basically.................OOPS............sigh

I cannot believe how so many folks , both callers and dancers, buy in to the "committee has to approve it"  mentality.
Simple things like already (committee) approved events cannot get advertised cuz the committee has to approve it.
"God so loved this Earth he sent his only begotten Son (MOST CERTAINLY not in a Green Jacket) instead of a committee"
I think MWSD has had it..............There have only been 2 times in 36 years of calling I thought about quitting TODAY WAS ONE

A Fun swing thru the southland.......Western Weavers are excited about their new home-wood floor-lotsa lighted parking and A/C...........In other words everything the old place lacked-Good Luck!......The Whirlaways celebrated 54th years tonight to a good crowd (not a great one) and we had fun!.........V.K is driving all night from a gig to home, I'm glad I don't have to do that (well not till next Sat-Sigh).......If you see the "Taller Caller" ask him for swimming lessons, see if he's "washed up" and congratulate him on beating "Wally" in the dumb things our label staff has done....hehehehehe
Lord knows I'm gonna get it some day ::))
