Rick Hampton Square Dance Caller

April 2nd
Ricky B. remains in the hospital, There seems to be confusion as to his mental status, and it seems to be that it depends on what time of day you see him. (mornings seem better)  The DBD Class started tonite and it was a usual first nite- Lot's of new folks who would have benefited greatly from being in the MS DBD. Oh well. Next week we'll prod along some more.

April 4th
Rick Boswell passed away at 9:30am. A benefit dance will be held in Bakersfield on May 6th, Another in Sacramento on Jun 9th- Travis Boswell (Rick's Youngest son)  created a video tribute-CLICK.  Rick Please say hi to Neil Grossman, Steve Admunson, Bob Fisk, Dick Houlton and so many more callers in heaven. Rick you were one of my best friends, and one of my biggest sources of irritation, you were a great Dad, GrandDad, caller and a "lovable screw up" Don't worry, we'll take care of things down here. We'll see you again!!!- Everyone reading-Remember what Easter is all about.

April 7th
"He is Risen"  Happy Easter- A fun weekend  trip to Ramblin' Rogues, I now know that there are 2 Chapman Exits off the 57 freeway- I also now know which is the right one (That would be the 2nd one I took)  I look forward to having Dan N. visit and call this week- I dread Tuesday- Rick's funeral- I take comfort in the fact I'll see him again- Thank You Jesus!!!- again Happy Easter-

April 15th
A busy week!  Rick's services went well (as far as these damn things go) A Sh*tpile of folks came out!!!!!!- I'm glad that part is OVER!
Dan N. called 3 nites for my groups this week-Lotsa Fun, I enjoyed calling with him Tues and Wed (Mon I was under the weather)- Friday at Sierra Hillbillies was FUN (small crowd-State) The State Convention went..........as well as they ever do.........Lotsa fun seeing folks, The label let Rick B. call with us (via his new release) That was a powerful moment with the staff, mics down, and Rick Calling-Speaking of the State Council- Would their time be better spent getting regional clubs to go dark, rather than telling nice folks they could NOT SELL Rick B's Memorial badges, which the $$ go directly to his family (it was against the "rules"-should not the "rules" have regional clubs support the festival-But then these nice folks put it on the wrong weekend) well meaning IDIOTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (By the way I sold quite a few memorial dance ribbons (which go directly to the family)-also against the "rules" but I wonder if they knew I would have surveyed the dancers over the mic-as to if this policy is a good idea- OFW

DON'T EVER use a web host that has an office at a used car lot. It turns out that my web hosting company (Which I was happy with-I used to do Radio Commercials for) fired and/or lost everyone, and now work out of a Used Car Lot- Sheez-Only in Porterville.  I am going to resolve this by changing hosts by Friday, the only reason I don't change today is my new company advised me to wait (something tech-It will be easier later this week).  I look forward to an improved service!!!!!!!!!!!  Now to doseedo  1) Can the "callers" teaching PLEASE teach the list, You don't have to agree that Graduation has to be an arbitrary date-I don't! and yet I still call for these clubs, Maybe "cajones" need to be grown in Caller Land 2) Can the clubs put some thoughtful consideration into the (it's May-Let's graduate the class-Hey where did they go? -What happened?) Perhaps it was a bad idea to finish an unfinished class- Did you bother to ask your caller? Say bye-bye to yet another group of P/O'ed former Square Dancers.

I heard that the Tehachapi group was treated to a "sterling" performance by Wes- Good Job- I also heard a new caller by the name of Boswell, James Boswell, Shaken not stirred was there and did well! I hope that these newer callers (In James's case a debut) do well, and help the activity!!!! (J.B yer Dad would be PROUD!!!!!) As you can see my website is working, We had fun in Visalia Tuesday, and A2 Wed in Bakersfield.  The rest of the week is Frazier Park, Burbank, Orange County Then a full week of the usual, with Cowtown, The OC w/Tex Gipson and Ricky B's Memorial dance- Then Mon thru Thursday and the A WEEKEND OFF all 3 days!!! YAY
